Job description

The underground electrician contributes to the safe and continuous mining operations of the site. They are responsible for installing, repairing, and ensuring the proper functioning of equipment in both planned and unplanned maintenance operations.

Your main responsibilities

  • Perform work in compliance with the electrical code and best practices;
  • Install, construct, refurbish, modify, repair, and maintain all electrical infrastructures and equipment on the mining site;
  • Design control panels and install power distribution circuits;
  • Read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, and technical plans;
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs for electrical equipment and document findings;
  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems and equipment;
  • Make modifications to electrical systems and record/document changes;
  • Work according to daily task assignments, following work orders and instructions;
  • Provide support to the maintenance team.

 

Requirements

  • DEP in electricity or other relevant training;
  • Class C license;
  • Valid general explosives permit;
  • FMTM modules (1 to 5, 7) or Common Core U0000, U0001, U0002, U0012.

 

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role;
  • Experience in the mining industry, with knowledge of lockout/tagout procedures ad high-voltage switching;
  • Proficiency in using testing equipment such as multimeters, insulation testers, and signal generators;
  • Experience with high voltage systems;
  • Strong diagnostic and computer skills;
