Job description

The instrumentation and control technician works within the surface and underground electrical team, under the supervision of the electrical supervisor and in collaboration with other department members. They are responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation equipment.

Your main responsibilities

  • Maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation equipment such as gas probes, seismometers, accelerometers, piezometers, and communication systems;
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on electrical equipment such as variable frequency drives (VFDs), smart motor controllers, motors, transformers, lighting systems, etc;
  • Basic troubleshooting and programming of PLCs, operator interfaces, and industrial networks;
  • Adhere to company safety standards and regulations;
  • Work with a maintenance management system using work orders;
  • Actively participate in the equipment reliability process.

 

Requirements

  • DEC or AEC in Electrical Engineering Technology – Automation and Control or other relevant training;
  • Class C License is an asset.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Strong knowledge of Schneider Control Expert, ABB Automation Builder, Aveva System Platform (formerly Wonderware IDE), and Microsoft Suite.

 

Technical skills

  • Ability to handle electrical materials weighing up to 50 lbs;
  • Willingness to work in an underground environment, with frequent stair climbing required.
